Dr. Donald D. Howe

Dr. Donald D. Howe has been a physician with Ashley Women's Center since 1977. A native of La Grange, North Carolina, he received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia and his residency in the same specialty at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. After serving two years in the Armed Forces at the Naval Academy Hospital in Annapolis, Maryland, Dr. Howe came to Gastonia to begin his medical practice.

Some of Dr. Howe’s interests include golf, jogging, and woodworking. In addition, he and his wife enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Dr. Howe is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a member of the Southeastern OB-GYN Society and the North Carolina OB-GYN Society.

Dr. George Daniel Jacobs

Dr. George Daniel Jacobs, a Gastonia native and an honor graduate of Clemson University, received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Louisiana State University Hospital in New Orleans, and began his practice with Ashley Women’s Center in 1980.

The father of three children—Molly, Daniel, and Amy—Dr. Jacobs stays busy with their activities. His hobbies include golf, gardening, scuba diving, and travel.

Dr. Jacobs is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is a member of The American Fertility Society.

   Dr. Joseph R. Holman

Dr. Joseph R. Holman, a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. His internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology were served at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Holman joined Ashley Women’s Center in 1988.

Dr. Holman, his wife Amy, and their three children are active in their church and stay busy with the children’s sporting activities. When he can get away, backpacking and white water rafting are some of his joys.

Dr. Holman is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Charles A. Peach

Dr. Charles A. Peach, a native of Jesup, Georgia, was awarded his medical degree by the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He served his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He began his practice with Ashley Women’s Center in 1982.

Dr. Peach, and his wife Pam, enjoy traveling, boating, music, and movies. He has three children—Katie, James, and Sally---who attended Gaston County Schools and are now busy with college, jobs, or both.

Dr. Peach is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a member of the North Carolina OB-GYN Society.

   Dr. Sean M. Lynch

Dr. Sean M. Lynch, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, was awarded his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he ranked in the upper one-fifth of his class. He served his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Lynch joined Ashley Women’s Center in 2002.

Dr. Lynch enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Some of his outside interests include biking, running, tennis, and water/snow skiing.

Dr. Lynch is fluent in Spanish and he is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

   Dr. Sam Wilcox II

Dr. Sam Wilcox II is a native of Miami, Florida. He received his BS in Biology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and was awarded his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Wilcox II completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital Temple University Clinical Campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Wilcox II and his wife, Michele, moved to North Carolina in 2005 when he joined Ashley Women’s Center. He enjoys sports, exercise, and music.

Dr. Wilcox is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.

Certified Nurse-Midwives

 



  Pamela R. Givens, CNM, MPH

Pamela R. Givens, CNM, MPH brings with her almost 28 years of experience providing well-woman care, family planning services, and pregnancy and birthing care. Prior to becoming a nurse-midwife, Pam worked as an obstetrical nurse for over 6 years.

Pam received both a Batchelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters in Public Health from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. She completed her midwifery training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. In addition, Pam has held faculty appointments at the University of Florida (Jacksonville, Florida), the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing (Hyden, Kentucky), and the University of South Florida.

Pam has two daughters, she enjoys gardening, and she loves to travel with her husband.

Pam is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She joined Ashley Women’s Center in 1997.

Nancy A. Kuney, CNM

Nancy A. Kuney, CNM received her Master of Science degree in Community Nutrition from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. After working ten years as a Perinatal Nutritionist and Nutrition Counselor, she earned her BS in Nursing form Syracuse University School of Nursing in Syracuse, New York. She has held Staff Nursing positions in Childbirth Centers in both Syracuse, New York and Dallas, Texas. Nancy received her Nurse Midwifery Certification from Parkland School of Nurse Midwifery in Dallas, Texas. She worked as Certified Nurse Midwife in Woodbridge, Virginia prior to moving to North Carolina.

Nancy enjoys reading and basket weaving in her spare time. She and her husband Mark reside in Gastonia.

Nancy is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She joined Ashley Women’s Center in 2001.

T. Christine Fogarty, PA-C

T. Christine Fogarty, PA-C received her BS in Nutrition Science at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. After serving several years as a Health and Nutrition Educator in positions with the United States Peace Corps and the American Cancer Society, she attended the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in the Physician Assistant Program. She earned a BS in Health Science and has worked as a Physician Assistant in the rural areas of North Carolina since 1994.

Christine enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Her hobbies include reading and gardening.

Christine is fluent in Spanish and she is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Since joining Ashley Women’s Center in 1999, Christine has also been trained to work as a surgical assistant with the physicians.
